Joining in the Fight to Stop Hunger July 1, 2015 The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank has worked to fight hunger in our community for 30 years. IOMAXIS, a longtime supporter of the food bank and the Fredericksburg/Stafford community, teamed up with the Colonial Forge High School Cheerleading (CFHS) team, providing them with the chance to practice their team motto “Random Acts of Kindness”. IOMAXIS and the CFHS team spent the day volunteering at the Food Bank, sorting and preparing food packages for local residents in need. After meeting with head coach Courtney Michelle, IOMAXIS thought it would be a great opportunity to work together to help our community and bring awareness to the food bank and its increased needs over the summer. The food bank supports a large area of communities, and struggling families faces extra challenges providing adequate meals to children out of school for the summer. The CFHS cheerleading team worked hard, kept motivated, and stayed positive throughout the day. Learning about the struggles of some of their very own classmates definitely made an impact. “It’s really sad to know some of our classmates are struggling in that way,” said a member of the cheerleading team. Coach Courtney Michelle is hoping to have the team volunteer on a regular basis.
